BAKER, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of a suspect in connection with several shooting on Interstate 15.
Antonio Chaidez, 35-years-old, Resident of Las Vegas, Nevada, was taken into custody on Tuesday morning April 1, 2025 and charged with Attempted Murder.
At about 2:36am, deputies from the Barstow Sheriff’s Station responded to an area off of Cima Road on southbound I-15, in an unincorporated area of San Bernardino County, after a man had been shot while sleeping in his car. A short time later, at about 2:46am, deputies responded to a shooting at the Chevron gas station on Baker Boulevard in the town of Baker.
When they arrived, they learned the suspect, later identified as Antonio Chaidez, who was driving a black truck, fired multiple rounds inside the gas station through a back door, striking the store clerk. Chaidez fired additional rounds into two parked semi-trucks near the property, striking one of the drivers, and fled the location. All three victims were transported to local hospitals.
California Highway Patrol located Chaidez’ vehicle travelling southbound on the I-15 Freeway near Afton Road, that about in the middle of Baker and the city of Barstow and became involved in a pursuit. Deputies from the Barstow Sheriff’s Station assisted CHP and conducted a felony traffic stop on Chaidez, off of Harvard Road near Yermo.
Chaidez was taken into custody without further incident.
Through investigation, deputies learned Chaidez was involved in a shooting spree starting in Blue Diamond, Nevada, to Jean, NV and into Baker, CA.
