Several fire departments, including San Bernardino County Fire, Cal Fire and San Bernardino National Forest firefighters responded to a silver Chrysler 200 mid-size sedan fully engulfed in flames at 1:51pm April 22, 2025, near the top of the summit of the Cajon Pass about a mile before the Oak Hill Road exit.

Officials say afternoon winds caused the fire from the Chrysler to spread quickly, becoming a small brushfire off the left side of the interstate. As of 2:30pm crews were putting out hot spots and blocking the two left lanes.

As of 3pm lanes were reopen,

Driver and passenger escape as sedan catches fire.

California Highway Patrol officials say no one was hurt in the vehicle fire.

The cause of the vehicle fire is unknown at this time.
