Joshua Workman, 39-year-old resident of Piñon Hills died following the 1:27pm April 24, 2025, crash at Phelan Road and Lebec Rd. in a construction zone, according to California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino County Coroner’s office.
He was riding a black 2018 Harley-Davidson motorcycle westbound on Phelan Rd., approaching the intersection, prior to the collision, according to the CHP. A black 2014 Honda Civic sedan was making a left turn from westbound Phelan Road onto Lebec Road.
“For reasons still under investigation, the rider of the Harley-Davidson attempted to pass traffic at the intersection and collided with the left side of the Honda Civic within the intersection,” the CHP said in a written statement.
Workman was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center in Apple Valley, where he succumbed to his injuries, officials said.
The female driver, who was the sole occupant of the Honda, was transported to a local hospital with major injuries.
The family has launched a GoFundMe for Josh Workman. “He was taken from us all too soon doing one of the things he loved so much, riding his Harley,” the fundraiser said. He left behind a wife and two children. “Josh was everything to his family, a loving husband, an amazing father, and the type of person who would drop everything to help a friend in need,” according to the statement.
The investigation was ongoing. Any witnesses, or anyone with information, is asked to contact the CHP’s Victorville Office at (760) 241-1186.
