Gold Fire Grows to more than 400 Acres North of Big Bear

BIG BEAR, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> The Gold Fire started Monday morning is burning in the Holcomb Valley area north of Big Bear Lake in the San Bernardino National Forest.

Firefighters were called around 8:15am August 4, 2025, Monday morning in the Holcomb Valley area on Forest Service Road that is north of Big Bear Lake. The fire started small then expanded to more than 300+ acres hours later.

According to San Bernardino National Forest officials said no structures are being threatened at this time.

There is a moderate rate of spread. The area is difficult to contain due to steep terrain and inaccessibility. There are additional short-range spot fires happening as well with the afternoon gusty winds, officials said.

Details about how the fire started were not immediately available.

One firefighter was injured and hospitalized.
