PHELAN, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> San Bernardino County Fire crews saw a couple significant lightning strikes over the county Saturday morning.
SBCF said this storm cell that move over Phelan around 10am that had gusty winds, lightning, and not a lot of rain. There was rain with this thunderstorm, just not enough to put out the spark from a lightning strike.
The fire called the Caughlin Fire that started off of Caughlin Road and Phelan Rd. on Saturday August 23, 2025.
They called for a dozer to cut a line around the fire and were able to control the flames to about two to three acres burned.
The fire is listed as controlled and is suspected to be started by lightning.
