NEWBERRY SPRINGS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A Bullhead City Arizona man killed last Saturday in a solo-vehicle rollover crash on Interstate 40 in Newberry Springs.
The driver, identified as 66-year-old Darwin Gene Smith, resident of Bullhead City Arizona, was the only occupant of the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
On Saturday, September 13, 2025, Smith was driving a white Dodge pickup truck was traveling westbound on I-40, seen driving reckless before losing control. Smith left the roadway rolled his vehicle multiple times in a ravine, landed upside down. The crash was reported around 12:10pm on westbound I-40 about two miles after Hector Road exit in Newberry Spring, according to the CHP Traffic log.
The incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, Barstow Office.
