SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A 218-mile high-speed rail project connecting Las Vegas to Southern California is now scheduled for completion in late 2029.
Despite earlier optimism to have the project ready by the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, the current expected completion date has since been pushed back.
“The Brightline West high-speed rail project connecting Las Vegas to Southern California is now scheduled for completion by late 2029,” the company said in a Press Release.
Once completed, Brightline West is expected to become the fastest ground travel option between Las Vegas and Southern California, offering a major alternative to the often gridlocked to the 15 Freeway.
The planned route will connect Las Vegas to the Rancho Cucamonga area, with access points into the greater Los Angeles region.
For now, it means a few more years of road trips, holiday traffic, and timing your departure just right. But when the train finally arrives, weekend getaways, concerts, sporting events, and quick SoCal trips could look very different for Vegas locals and visitors alike.
The key thing is the price to ride verse a vehicle traveling and or a plane ticket. Would you use the train?
The Pain In The Pass website will bring you further project news and construction updates as the project progresses.
