CRESTLINE, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Detectives arrest estranged husband in connection with his wife death of a Newport Beach woman found near Highway 138 back in November.
After the victim, Aryan Papoli, 58-year-old, resident of Newport Beach, was identified, detectives conducted an extensive and persistent investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death. During the investigation, detectives identified Gordon Abas Goodarzi, 66-year-old, Resident of Rolling Hills the victim’s estranged husband, as a suspect.
After a complete review of the autopsy results the coroner determined the manner of death to be a homicide.
On Friday January 23, 2026, through a continued and diligent investigation, Goodarzi was contacted at his residence and later arrested. Goodarzi was transported to the Central Detention Center and booked for murder and being held without bail.
From previous news article back in November Jane Doe was found on November 18, 2025, about 75 feet down a steep embankment in the area of Highway 138 and Crestline Road in the San Bernardino County mountain community of Crestline.
Officials initially said she showed signs of “injuries consistent with a fall.”
Later she was identified as Aryan Papoli.
But an autopsy determined the death to be a homicide, however, investigators did not disclose how the victim was killed.
