CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A GoFundMe campaign is raising money to Support Taylor Cole’s Family & Legacy, who was killed in a hit-and-run Easter Sunday on Highway 138.

The crash was reported about 5:20pm April 5, 2026 on Highway 138 just east of the 15 Freeway.

According to officials, 45-year-old Taylor Cole from Crestline was riding his motorcycle on Hwy 138 east of 15 Freeway when he was involved in a crash with two other vehicles stated on the CHP Traffic log.

The other two vehicles involved were a gold Chrysler minivan and a blue sedan from reports of the CHP traffic log.

The driver fled the scene.

Officers did conducted a search of the area for a possible person on foot “hiding or walking” in the area, as well as inquired with local hospitals regarding crash victims who may have just arrived, according to the CHP traffic log.

Cole was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Any witnesses, or anyone with information on the driver, can reach the CHP’s San Bernardino Area Office at (909) 383-4247.

According to the fundraising page GoFundMe, Cole was a renowned scientist and adventurer was a true American patriot, a devoted father, and a gifted engineer and mathematician.

He dedicated his life to our nation’s security, first as an engineer whose mathematical analysis protected our service members from improvised explosive devices, and then as a forward-leaning, fast-prototyping, out-of-the-box innovator.

As the Chief Technology Officer for a key US Navy lab, Taylor led efforts to prototype new products in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, quantum physics, meromorphic computing, new materials, and innovation processes. His professional achievements were remarkable, but those of us who knew him best saw a loving father who wanted everyone to live life to the fullest and have fun along the way.

World Record

Taylor was a sky-diving, base-jumping, unicycling, motorcycle-riding, piloting, goat-loving, dog-loving, fun-bossing dancing fool. He was a unique mentor, an old soul, and a hugely impactful personality. However you interacted with him, you always left feeling uplifted. He would say to everyone, “yea’ buddy, stay rad.” Raise a glass and share a toast for this legendary man.

Taylor’s recent passing has left his family with unexpected expenses and the need for support, especially for his daughter’s education. The funds raised here will help cover funeral costs, support Taylor’s family, and contribute to his daughter’s future.

Any support you can offer to Taylor’s family during this difficult time would be deeply appreciated. Your generosity will help ease the burden of funeral costs and ensure his daughter’s future is a little brighter. Thank you for honoring Taylor’s memory and for standing with his loved ones.
