Dense Fog Blamed for at least a 3 Vehicle Crash in the Cajon Pass Sunday Morning

CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Heavy fog caused a small chain reaction crash involving at least three vehicles on northbound Interstate 15 Sunday morning.

Around 9:57am May 3, 2026, dispatch received numerous 911 calls reporting multiple vehicles crashing on I-15 about two miles after Highway 138 exit in the area of the summit of the Cajon Pass.

Visibility at the time in this area was less than 500 feet of heavy morning fog.

No injuries were reported.

“This serves as a reminder that lower speeds and turning on your headlights are exceedingly important during inclement weather.”

We will update this story with more information when the CHP’s preliminary accident report is available. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, Inland Office.
