PHELAN, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Firefighters battled a house engulfed in flames in the community of Phelan that also sparked a small brush fire Sunday afternoon.
Firefighters were called to the home around 2:12pm on May 31, 2026 to find the structure fully engulfed, with smoke and flames visible from Phelan Road.
Several agencies, including San Bernardino County Fire, CAL FIRE, and with help from fire airplanes and helicopters, responded to the large blaze on the 11100 block of Nevada Road in the town of Phelan.
Minutes later, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office and Highway Patrol reported that the blaze spread to nearby brush, causing a small brush fire called the Nevada Fire and burned about 11 acres and one outbuilding.
At 3:26pm the forward progression was stopped.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Two people were transported to a nearby hospital, one for smoke inhalation and the other for a leg injury.
