Monsoon Pattern Returning Next Week for Southern California

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Every year in the Summer, the monsoon season brings big changes in the weather pattern, like heavy rain showers, strong gusty winds with dust storms, flash floods, and power outages that happen out of nowhere.

This weather pattern could start on Wednesday July 8 and last over a week. Each day could bring a chance of monsoon weather to your area.

With a “Big O” High parked over the four corners states ridge and an easterly wave to the south over Baja, Mexico (subtropical moisture). Wedged between the two will be Arizona and California, and both will drive storms into the region. Not only will the mountains and deserts see them, with this type of pattern means the valleys, basins, and coasts could and will see them too, so expect the metros of San Diego, Orange, Inland Empire, and Los Angeles, to get into the action.

If you live in a flood prone area, I would start preparing now. This will not be the only storm this summer, it’s been reported this will be a strong monsoon season.

While it’s too early to know where the storms will go.

With weather updates from the Southern California Weather Force and the Zone Watch app. They will post updates on the weather, so join both.

Here is a List of things to check on your vehicle in the Summer Time.

  • Tires: Check that the tread depth and air pressure are correct. Tires that are worn out are dangerous on wet roads.
  • Wipers: Replace wipers that are cracked or streaked to make sure you can see clearly.
  • Lights: Check the headlights, brake lights, and turn signals to make sure they are all working and can be seen.
  • Belts and Hoses: Check for cracks or wear; these parts often break down in hot, humid weather.
  • Brakes: Check how quickly they respond and listen for squeaking or grinding.

Cooling System: Check for leaks in the engine seals and fan motors, and make sure the cooling system works well.

A quick check now can stop problems that could cost a lot of money.

Check or get an Emergency Kit for your vehicle. You should have bottled water, flash light, snacks, and blankets.
