HARVARD, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> One person was killed and four are injured and three needed to be airlifted after a two-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon on northbound Interstate 15.
California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino County Fire responded to a two-vehicle crash on northbound I-15 about a mile before the Harvard Road exit around 12:09pm July 5, 2026, by an iPhone crash detection alert.
When they arrived, officers found a dark gray Nissan Sentra 4-door sedan with heavy rear-end damage and a black unknown hatchback possibly a Mazda Mazda3 with heavy front-end damage, from the CHP traffic log stated. Both vehicles stopped in the center median.
Emergency responders indicated that one occupant was trapped inside and was later confirmed deceased at the scene.
They also, requested at least three medical helicopters for the four patients injured in the collision. Mercy Air 2, Mercy Air 66, and Reach Air Medical 43 helicopters were directed to land at the scene. Mercy Air 66 and Reach 43 helicopters did land on the crash scene with Mercy Air 2 landed at Barstow Community Hospital.
Two critically injured patients were airlifted to by Mercy Air 66 and Reach 43 helicopters to Loma Linda University Medical Center for further medical treatment.
The other two patients were transported by ground ambulances to Barstow Community Hospital. With one of the two patients was airlifted from the hospital by Mercy Air 2 to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for further medical treatment.
The identity of the deceased has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
