HARVARD, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Elvira Nemenzo 66-year-old female resident of Madera was killed and three people airlifted after a two-vehicle crash on northbound Interstate 15 Sunday afternoon.
California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino County Fire responded to a two-vehicle crash on northbound I-15 about a mile before the Harvard Road exit around 12:09pm July 5, 2026, by an iPhone crash detection alert.
The two vehicles involved in the crash was reported by the CHP statement a 2024 black Porsche and a 2024 gray Honda both traveling northbound, just south of Harvard Road,
Investigators determined the Porsche had been traveling directly behind the Honda in the left-hand lane as both vehicles approached slowing traffic ahead.
“For reasons still under investigation, the driver of the Porshe failed to reduce speed and collided with the rear of the Honda,” the statement said.
Elvira Nemenzo, who was riding as a rear passenger in the Honda, died from her injuries at the scene, according to CHP and San Bernardino County coroner’s officials.
They also, requested at least three medical helicopters for the four patients injured in the collision. Mercy Air 2, Mercy Air 66, and Reach Air Medical 43 helicopters were directed to land at the scene. Mercy Air 66 and Reach 43 helicopters did land on the crash scene with Mercy Air 2 landed at Barstow Community Hospital.
Two critically injured patients were airlifted to by Mercy Air 66 and Reach 43 helicopters to Loma Linda University Medical Center for further medical treatment.
The other two patients were transported by ground ambulances to Barstow Community Hospital. With one of the two patients was airlifted from the hospital by Mercy Air 2 to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for further medical treatment.
This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, Barstow Office.
