LLANO, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A brush fire that erupted in the open desert near community of Pinion Hills Friday afternoon, requesting Evacuation Orders that remained in place.
The blaze called the Summit Fire was reported at 12:48pm Friday July 10, 2026 on Jesus Canyon Road in the unincorporated community of Llano, along the boundary of the Walkabout Ranch Nature Preserve, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The agency said multiple engine and hand crews from the county, CAL Fire and other agencies nearby were sent to the location and encountered flames moving at a rapid rate of spread through medium to heavy brush.
At the height of the fire, at least 10 air tankers and multiple water dropping helicopters were making runs on the fire.
The fire has scorched at least 2,271 acres at 6pm with the help of strong afternoon gusty winds.
An evacuation order was issued for the area of East Avenue Z and Fort Tejon Road to the county line, while evacuation warnings were established in other nearby areas like Pinion Hills and Big Pines. The flames are making a run towards the hills/mountains.
At least one structure was destroyed.
The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.
Update at 9pm the fire is 2,709 acres burned and burning towards the Bridge Fire burn scar area. This is good news to slow the fire down and for Wrightwood Big Pines area.
The fire was mapped at 2,676.9 acres with better mapping overnight and 0% contained.
Evacuation warnings and orders remain in effect for parts of Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties as firefighters continue battling the blaze.
Sunday update the acres remain at 2690, containment rises to 15%. Forward progression has been stopped.
