ESSEX, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A jackknifed semi tractor-trailer was disrupting traffic on westbound Interstate 40 Wednesday morning.
California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino Fire Department received calls of a crash. It was reported on westbound Interstate 40 mile marker 92 or about six miles after the Essex Road exit. The crash happened at about 7am on July 15, 2026.
The semi jackknifed, blocking all the traffic lanes and spilled about 100 gallons of diesel fuel from one of the saddle bags on the dirt shoulder of the freeway.
From reports the driver did decline medical aid at the scene.
Traffic was backed up for about four miles.
