CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> At least one person killed after a vehicle careened off of southbound Interstate 15 Freeway in the Cajon Pass, authorities say.
California Highway Patrol said, the crash was reported at approximately 1:52pm on July 15, 2026, off of southbound 15 Freeway at the Kenwood Avenue offramp.
Reported on the CHP Traffic Log reported a dark gray unknown vehicle may have lost control driver and went off the right shoulder in a dirt turnout area. The vehicle went down the embankment rolled over mutiple times and landed around 200 feet down from the freeway.
First responders from San Bernardino County Fire said, one person was pronounced deceased at the scene, while one occupants needed to be airlifted out. The other patient was brought up in a stokes basket by our urban search and rescue team, and transferred to waiting ambulance where they also were taken to a local trauma center.
San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Search and Rescue AR 308 helicopter, were dispatched to the scene of reports of multiple injuries.
“Due to the location and injury, the helicopter hoist was determined to be the safest extraction method”. That patient was transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, further evaluation and treatment.
