SLOAN, NV. (Pain In The Pass) >> A routine traffic stop turned into an arrest after a Nevada State Police trooper reportedly caught a driver traveling at an extreme speed on northbound Interstate 15.
According to Nevada State Police, a trooper from the Primm District stopped a white BMW X5 on northbound I-15 near the town of Sloan on Saturday, July 25, after allegedly clocking the SUV traveling 130 mph in a 70 mph zone.
The driver was arrested on charges including speeding and reckless driving.
Nevada State Police reminded drivers that Interstate 15 is not a racetrack and said excessive speed puts not only the driver at risk, but everyone else sharing the roadway at risk.
Officials also emphasized that excessive speed and impaired driving continue to be leading causes of fatal crashes across Nevada. Troopers say they will continue conducting high-visibility enforcement to reduce dangerous driving behaviors and save lives.
Their message to drivers is simple:
“Slow down, be mindful of other drivers, leave sooner, drive slower, and live longer.”
