CIMA, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A wildfire that burned 80 acres near Stateline in the Mojave National Preserve could be sparked by a lightning strike hours before it was discovered.
Officials said the Ivanpah Fire, first reported before 6pm on August 6, 2026, 6.5 Miles Northeast of Cima Road & Morning Star Mine Road, in the Mojave National Preserve and burned about 15 acres at that time.
According to firefighters, due to the dry vegetation and environmental conditions, difficult to access for ground units, and the afternoon winds the fire quickly expanded to around 80 acres and was 0% contained as of 8pm.
No closures or evacuations are currently in place, no structures or other values are currently threatened, according to fire officials.
Investigators are examining whether lightning may have caused the fire, weather was in the area this afternoon.
