CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> An Oak Hills man has been identified as the motorcyclist killed in a crash on southbound Interstate 15 in the Cajon Pass last Friday.
The incident happened at about 12:58pm August 7, 2026, on southbound I-15 about a mile after the new truck scales.
Oscar Lopez 47-year-old from Oak Hills was riding his motorcycle on southbound I-15 freeway in the #2 lane.
“During investigation it was reported a silver SUV made an unsafe lane change from the #1 lane, in the direction of Lopez riding in the #2 lane, which caused Lopez to lose control of his bike and collide with the rear of a construction water truck,” according to the statement.
The SUV continued traveling southbound following the incident.
Officers responding to the scene found Oscar Lopez not responsive in the roadway and later pronounced deceased at the scene.
Any witnesses, or anyone with information, was urged to contact Officer R. Valenzuela of the CHP’s San Bernardino Area Office at (909) 383-4247.
