JEAN, NV. (Pain In The Pass) >> Two multi-vehicle crashes on southbound Interstate 15 near California Nevada Stateline was temporary shutdown traffic Friday morning.
The first crash was reported at about 12:16am on August 21, 2026 on southbound I-15 near mile marker 7, involving three vehicles. During the investigation of the first crash, a second crash happened at 12:36am.
The second crash was a hit-and-run involving a Clark County Fire and Rescue ambulance, a Clark County fire truck, and a Chevrolet Malibu sedan, according to Nevada Highway Patrol.
Five people were transported as a result of the second crash, one by Medvec helicopter and the other four by ground ambulance. There exact conditions of each were not immediately disclosed.
The hit-and-run vehicle then fled the scene. Reportedly he allegedly ran into the desert, and authorities have been unable to locate him as of 9:30am.
I-15 southbound was closed due to a large diesel spill over the freeway from the fire truck that was hit.
By about 7:50am, Highway Patrol had reopened the number 1 and 2 lanes and the slow lane was still being cleanup.
