ESSEX, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A violent crash between a semi and a SUV left at least one person dead on the Interstate 40 Saturday morning.
The collision happened at about 4:38am by a iPhone crash alert on eastbound I-40 at mile maker 112 about a mile and a half before the Mountain Springs Road exit. The two-vehicle reported in the collision was a semi tractor-trailer and a Chevrolet Suburban SUV.
For unknown reason the semi tractor-trailer overturned, then the Chevy hit the semi. Lanes were blocked.
The first emergency responders arrived to the crash and declared at least one person was dead at the scene.
All eastbound main lanes of I-40 remain closed. Significant delays are expected, and drivers are urged to seek alternate routes.
A driver, identified as Ashlynn Morehouse, a 24-year-old woman from Aliso Viejo, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Sadly, her dog was in the vehicle and is missing. She ran from the crash scene. Her dog’s name is Alaska a white husky mix. If you see this dog below please call 911 with the info on this story.
Unfortunately, Alaska has been found, she was found a few hundred yards from the crash scene. She succumb to her injuries from the crash.
We will update this story with more information when the CHP’s preliminary accident report is available. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, Needles Office.
