BAKER, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Traffic on Interstate 15 northbound was back up for several miles on Friday evening after a tractor-trailer blew a tire, which subsequently hit a small van, according to a report from the California Highway Patrol.
CHP and San Bernardino County Fire said the crash happened at 5:47pm, on September 11, 2026, on northbound I-15 about three miles after the town of Baker.
CHP traffic log said that the semi lost control after the blown tire, it crashed into a black Ford Transit van. The van landed in the center divider. The semi lost control and was blocking both northbound lanes. The semi was reported to be fully loaded with food.
Rescue called for one medical helicopter to landed nearby the crash scene. Fire crews established a landing zone at the Baker Airport.
The elderly male driver of the Ford was flown to University Medical Center of Southern Nevada by Mercy Air 21. The responding agencies did not release any information on what condition they are in.
Semi driver was not injured.
