PHELAN, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Firefighters quickly knocked down a small vegetation fire that started from a burning vehicle late Saturday morning off of Highway 138 in Phelan.
San Bernardino County Fire, CAL FIRE, San Bernardino National Forest firefighters responded to the incident off of Hwy 138 near Old Well Road around 10:53am, September 12, 2026. Crews arrived to find a white car on fire at the top of the embankment that had spread into nearby vegetation, burning approximately less than a half of an acre.
Units on scene reported the fire was out shortly after arrival. By 11:15am the blaze, dubbed the Valle Fire, was declared controlled with a hose around the flames and all incoming units were released from the scene.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
