VICTOR VALLEY, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Smoke is impacting the Victor Valley Monday evening from the Radford Fire. The fire is burning in the San Bernardino National Forest near Big Bear. The smoke is moving northwest towards high desert. You may see and smell smoke at times.
Smoke across the region will be the thickest in the upper atmosphere, but it’s expected to impact surface air quality in the high Desert. Based on wind pattern forecasts, residents within the the high desert could see and feel the effects of smoke thought the night. The high smoke areas are Oak Hills, Phelan, Pinion Hills, Adelanto, Lancaster, Palmdale, Barstow, Hesperia, Victorville, Apple Valley, and small towns in between listed.
If you can smell smoke, you’re breathing smoke. When smoke is present, residents should avoid excessive outdoor exercise or activity. Children, seniors, people with heart or lung disease and physically active adults are at greatest risk during poor air quality events.
If you are impacted by smoke this is what to do:
• Everyone should avoid any vigorous outdoor or indoor exertion.
• People with respiratory or heart disease, older adults, and children should remain indoors.
• Keep windows and doors closed.
• Run your air conditioner if you have one.
• Avoid using a swamp cooler or whole-house fan to prevent bringing additional smoke inside.
