CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A small vegetation fire sparked on Interstate 15 on-ramp of the Cajon Pass Sunday afternoon. (Photo above is credit by Marlene Morales.)
The fire broke out at around 1:19pm Tuesday July 19, 2023, at Highway 138 on-ramp to southbound I-15 according to the California Highway Patrol. San Bernardino County Fire Department, CAL Fire with help from the US Forest Service were all called to the scene.
US Forest Service firefighters were quickly on scene. They ask the California Highway Patrol to closed the slow lane, as they work to extinguish the flames.
The forward rate of spread was quickly stopped and extinguished about a half an hour totaling approximately a quarter of a acre. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
