CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> With so many vehicles on the roadways at any given time, it’s no wonder that Interstates 15 are notoriously congested. New data indicates that between 2018 and 2022 San Bernardino is number 1 in fatalities again.
According to a report by Consumer Affairs, there was a 17% increase in car crash deaths between 2018 and 2022 despite California population declining during that same period.
A road in California may be deemed “dangerous” for many reasons, including the condition of the road, its ease of navigability, or the documented poor driving behaviors of other motorists. Whether you live in the area or are just a traveling through the area, it’s important to be aware of some of the more dangerous roads in California and take proper precautions when traveling through them.
According to the study, the one of the ten deadliest stretches of road between 2018 and 2022 is in San Bernardino County. The Cajon Pass was #1 again of the deadly crashes in California.
Interstate 15 in San Bernardino County is between the 60 Freeway up to Stateline Primm Nevada. In 2022 there was a total of 48 fatalities, 22 of the fatalities were speeding, and 4 were drinking DUI. This is an increase of 15 fatalities compared to 2018.

Much of that can be attributed to California roads being less congested during the pandemic which caused some motorists to drive faster ot people moving up to the high desert.
