BARSTOW, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A tragic single-vehicle crash early Friday morning claimed the life of a 20-year-old Texas woman on northbound Interstate 15 just before Outlet Center Driver exit.
The crash was reported to the California Highway Patrol at about 1:45am on August 1, 2025.
CHP investigators determined the driver, a 20-year-old woman from Kerrville, Texas, was driving a Toyota Corolla sedan northbound with two 20-year-old female passengers from San Angelo, Texas.
“For reasons still under investigation, the driver veered to the right, across all lanes of the 15 Freeway, and onto the right shoulder. The driver made a corrective action by turning to the left, towards the lanes of traffic. She lost control of the car, and slid sideways, back to the right shoulder, colliding with a metal guardrail,” according to a written statement from the California Highway Patrol’s Barstow Office.
Emergency personnel arrived and begin life-saving efforts. The driver was transported by ambulance to Barstow Community Hospital where she was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.
One passenger sustained major injuries and was flown at the crash scene by Mercy Air 66 helicopter to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. The second passenger was reported not to be injured.
CHP officials stated that alcohol and/or drugs are not suspected to be contributing factors in the crash, which remains under investigation by the CHP Barstow, Office.
Further details have not been released.
