PHELAN, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A death investigation is underway after first responders found a man unresponsive in a vehicle off of Highway 138 on Labor Day evening
The incident was reported at about 5:30pm on Monday, September 1, 2025, along Highway 138 near Lone Pine Canyon Road, or about a mile away from Interstate 15 in the Cajon Pass.
A U.S. Forest Service employee contacted sheriff’s dispatch after locating the man unresponsive in a vehicle. Rescue personnel responded to the scene.
Authorities confirmed the man was deceased but said, “No foul play is suspected”.
No other information has been released at this time.
The identity of the man has not yet been released by the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office.
