591,000 Toyotas Recalled Over Instrument Panel Failure

DETROIT, MI. (Pain In The Pass) >> Toyota has issued a massive recall notice impacting some 591,377 vehicles in the United States in relation to an issue with the instrument clusters installed in the cars. The recall impacts a number of the brand’s most popular and beloved models, including the Toyota 4Runner, Tacoma, GR Corolla, and RAV4 among others. Here’s everything you need to know about the automaker’s recall filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

According to NHTSA, this latest recall impacts Toyota Venza, RAV4 and RAV4 Prime, Highlander, GR Corolla, and Crown models built during model years 2023–2024. The Tacoma, Grand Highlander, and Lexus TX and LS models built in MY2024 and MY2025 are also impacted by the recall; and the Crown Signia, Camry, RAV4 Plug-In Hybrid, 4Runner, and Lexus RX models built in MY2025 will also need to visit the dealer for repair work.

The recall filings state that all of these machines are equipped with an instrument panel that may fail to display vehicle speed, brake system, and tire pressure warning lights upon start-up. Any display that lacks this sort of vital information is a safety hazard, as it may result in a crash.

Dealers have been tasked with installing a software update on all of the non-PHEV vehicles impacted. The PHEVs, in turn, will see their instrument panels inspected, at which point it will be determined if new software or a full replacement is required. Regardless, all repairs made under this recall notice will come free of charge from Toyota, as is required by federal law.

Toyota plans on sending owner notifications by October 27, but you can reach out to Toyota Customer Service at 1-800-331-4331 for more information before then. The automaker’s internal codes for this recall are 25TB08 and 25TA08, but Lexus owners will need to use codes 5LB05 and 25LA05. As always, you can also head over to the NHTSA website and use the VIN search tool to determine if your vehicle is impacted.

Although manufacturers can make every effort to notify affected customers about recalls, it’s not always possible. So, if you want to check if your vehicle has an active recall, sometimes you need to do it yourself. Checking for a new or old recalls on your vehicle is easier than you think. Enter your vehicles VIN number at NHTSA Recall Site or CheckTopProtect.org to see if your vehicle has a open recall.
