CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> At least one person was killed in a crash involving an SUV and a semi tractor–trailer southbound Interstate 15 near Highway 138 Tuesday night.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident was reported around 8:49pm December 23, 2025, a.m. about a mile before Hwy 138 on the southbound side of I-15 freeway.
Preliminary information indicated the SUV rear-ended a semi-truck at high speed.
First responders arrived to find a red SUV completely pinned underneath a semi-trailer, prompting an immediate heavy rescue and extrication operation. Fire crews worked for an extended period to access the trapped vehicle.
Emergency responders upgraded the call to a fatality at around 9:15pm. Authorities confirmed at least one death.
From the CHP traffic log stated the semi driver parked on the right shoulder changing a tire.
Officials also requested super-heavy tow trucks to safely remove the semi-truck, which was reportedly hauling approximately 75,000 pounds of produce.
The semi-truck driver was not injured.
