HESPERIA, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A bicyclist killed Friday morning after being hit by two vehicles on Highway 395 has been ID, according to the Hesperia Police Department.
Hesperia Police said officers responded to the intersection of Hwy 395 and Joshua Street near the Hesperia Park & Ride and across from the Pilot Travel Center. The collision happened shortly before 6am on February 20, 2026.
Upon arrival deputies located an adult male, later identified as John Hewitt, 48-year-old, resident of Victorville, unresponsive in the intersection, where he was pronounced deceased by emergency personnel.
The Hesperia Station’s Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) responded and took over the investigation. Preliminary findings indicated that while Hewitt was riding his bicycle he was struck by a driver of a Subaru. The impact knocked the cyclist off his bicycle and onto the ground. While the man was on the ground, he was subsequently struck by a driver of a Toyota Camry. Both motorists remained on scene and were cooperative with the investigation.
