NEWBERRY SPRINGS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A semi tractor-trailer crashed early Wednesday morning on Interstate 40, halting traffic until the late morning.
The crash occurred about 5:31am on May 20, 2026, in the westbound lanes of Interstate 40 and left the semi tractor-trailer blocking all the eastbound lanes about a mile after or before Hector Road exit.
The semi driver reported hit something in the roadway possible a large rock on westbound I-40. As a result, the driver lost control went through the center divider median and landed across the eastbound lanes.
Crews used multiple heavy duty tow trucks to move the semi-truck out of lanes that broke the third axel on the truck. Then hook up the trailer out of lanes.
At 11:30am all lanes were reopened.
Authorities said the truck was hauling 32,000 pounds of metal parts.
No injuries were reported.
