BARSTOW, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A rear end crash involving two semi tractor-trailers along northbound Interstate 15 Monday afternoon.
California Highway Patrol officers say the crash occurred at or around 3:54pm on June 22, 2026 on the northbound I-15 at Old Highway 58 exit in the slow lane.
The driver of a red semi tractor-trailer reportedly struck the back of a semi- tractor-trailer pulling a tanker of 45.000 pounds of Caustic soda (scientifically named sodium hydroxide), the liquid was not leaking. The semi pulling the tanker was hit so hard the back tandem tires were knocked off the trailer.
After the contact the red semi tractor-trailer was sent off the right shoulder of the freeway and crash into the bridge above the 15 freeway. The semi driver was reportedly pinned in the cab of the truck.

The slow lanes were blocked for about 3 hours for the removal of the tanker and debris from the traffic lanes.
Everybody was able to escape without major injuries.
Additional details were limited at this time. We will update this story with more information when the CHP’s preliminary accident report is available. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, Barstow Office.
