California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino County Fire Department firefighters were getting calls of a big rig on fire. The vehicle was located about a half mile before the Sierra Avenue off ramp in the right shoulder. The fire happened about 1:04pm on September 15, 2023.

California Highway Patrol and firefighters were on the scene and had to temporarily shut down the slow lane while they worked on getting the rig fire put out.

Traffic backup quickly and firefighters had the fire out in about a half of a hour. Everybody did escape the semi before it became fully engulfed. No injuries were reported at the scene. The official cause of the vehicle fire is unknown at this time. The semi trailer was intact with no fire damage.
