YERMO, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A vehicle caught on fire on a major interstate running through the Mojave Desert Sunday afternoon, causing delays for drivers on the end of the weekend commute. Photo above is credit by Arthur Morris)

According to California Highway Patrol Traffic Log, a silver Hyundai sedan pulled to the right shoulder of the freeway with flames coming out of the engine compartment. The car fire was reportedly happened on the northbound I-15 about 2 miles before the Midway Rest Stop at about 3pm on April 21, 2024. The Hyundai quickly became fully engulfed and spread to the nearby vegetation

CHP and the fire crew had to temporally shut down the northbound side due to smoke blowing across the traffic lanes. Traffic coming from the Barstow area was backup about six miles long.

Four people were reported to be inside the vehicle and were able to exit the vehicle and walked away uninjured.
