CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A semi-truck caught fire, which spread to brush fire and shut down lanes on northbound Interstate 15 for hours Saturday afternoon. (Photo above is credit by Nena Piedra.)

California Highway Patrol says the semi-truck caught fire near the Kenwood Avenue Exit, south of I-15/I-215 split, about 2:17pm on June 29,2024.

The truck was pulling a trailer, flame was reported coming from the bottom of the cab. The fire spread from the cab to some brush on the side of the interstate.

Northbound I-15 truck bypass lanes was closed until at 2:45pm as emergency crews extinguished the fires and cleaned up the scene.

The flames ran up the hill quickly and structures were threatened at the top. About 2 acres were burned.

Everybody did escape the semi before it became fully engulfed. The cause of the semi fire is unknown at this time.

There were no injuries reported in the incident.

At 3:30pm CHP open one lane in the bypass lane. Fire crews said, they will be out for at least a one hour or two to fully contain the fire.
