CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A serious crash on Interstate 15 after a blue car rear ends a big rig pulling a trailer in the Cajon Pass Sunday afternoon.

California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino County Fire Department received calls of a blue Nissan Sentra sedan in the back of a big rig semi in the truck lane. Northbound 15 freeway between Highway 138 and the Oak Hill Road exits.

The accident happened at 4:30pm on Sunday May 17, 2020.

A medical helicopter was called to the scene by the fire department. Mercy Air 22 landed on the northbound freeway. Northbound lanes were temporarily blocked for about 15 minutes.

The driver needed to be extricated from the vehicle by the fire department.

Mercy Air transported the driver to Loma Linda University Medical Center with a unknown injuries.

There were two children inside were removed and both were transported to the same hospital, one child had a broken wrist.

The driver of the semi was not hurt.

CHP issued a SIG-Alert for the #4 and the #5 lane for tow truck to remove the car from the big rig.

This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol Inland Office.

CHP says additional information will be updated as it becomes available.
