HIGHLAND, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A big rig crane hits a bridge along the 210 freeway, bringing eastbound traffic to a standstill this morning.

California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino County Fire Department were getting calls of a crane truck overturned on the embankment just after Central Avenue overpass. It happened on the 210 freeway, in the city of Highland at 8:01am Wednesday morning, July 22, 2020.

CHP, Caltrans, firefighters, and tow trucks were on the scene and had to temporarily shut down the slow lane while they worked on getting the big rig/crane back on its wheels.

The big rig was hauling a crane truck but didn’t clear the Central Avenue bridge. This caused the crane and its load to flip on its side and sent debris across the freeway lanes.

One piece of debris was a large long metal beam that was blocking the fast lanes.

CHP issued a SIG Alert at 8:11am.

No injuries were reported at the scene.

It is unknown at this time why the crane was high enough to hit the bridge.

This accident is currently under investigation by the California Highway Patrol Inland Office.
