PHELAN, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A fatal single vehicle rollover accident on Highway 138 Saturday afternoon in Phelan.
The crash happened at 3:45pm Saturday December 5, 2020. About a mile from Interstate 15 at the sharp turn of the highway on the Hesperia side.
California Highway Patrol, US Department of Forestry, and San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to accident. They located a black Chevy Tahoe or a GMC Yukon SUV on its side on Hwy 138.
The driver was the only person inside the vehicle. Firefighters transported the driver to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center and the driver was pronounced deceased in the emergency department at 3:47pm.
The driver has been ID as 42-year-old Jason Isaac Strouse, a Lake Arrowhead resident.
For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle lost control, hit the side of the embankment rolled over on its side. A witness stated the driver was not speeding prior to the crash. The vehicle was the only one involved in the crash.
The incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol Inland Office.
CHP says additional information will be updated as it becomes available.
