BARSTOW, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >>  A big rig semi smashes through a big portion of guardrail in the north end of Barstow on Interstate 15. The semi trailer landed on the southbound side blocking all the lanes.

The crash was happened at about 5:46am., Saturday February 6, 2021. The semi was reported to be on northbound Interstate 15 when the driver lost control and crashed through the guardrail. The cab of the semi was up righted in the center divider. Only the fuel tanker trailer rolled-over and landed on the southbound side of Interstate 15 blocking all lanes.

The driver was not hurt and no other vehicles were involved in the crash.

The 47 foot fuel tanker trailer was reported to be full of carbon dioxide not leaking.

Caltrans Haz-Mat crews were called to the scene to clean-up about 150 gallons of diesel spilled in the center divider.

From reports, the semi damaged about 100 feet of guardrail in the center divider. 

Northbound 15 had only the #1 lane blocked. Southbound 15 all lanes were blocked and traffic was diverted onto Old Hwy 58 then back on the 15 freeway.

It is not clear what caused the crash.

This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol Barstow Office.

CHP says additional information will be updated as it becomes available.

Update 3:30pm Northbound 15 the #1 lane still closed. Southbound has the #2 and #3 lanes open. The fast lane still blocked due to guardrail repair.

4:40pm all Northbound lanes are back open. Only the #1 Southbound 15 lanes is blocked due to guardrail repairs.
