CAJON PASS/MOJAVE DESERT, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> California Department of Transportation Caltrans has begin a $2.2 million Resurfacing Project on Interstate 15 in the Cajon Pass to Mountain Pass area just before Stateline (Primm NV).

The project is nearly 140-mile long. The resurfacing project will include the resurfacing of bridge deck*, side slope repair*, joint seal replacement*, and the removal of existing asphalt, and installation of new polyester concrete at various locations from Cajon Creek Bridge in the Cajon Pass to the Micro Ditch Bridge near Mountain Pass, according to Caltrans News Release on Tuesday.

This roadwork project includes all lanes in both northbound and southbound directions at various locations at the same time. Lane closures start times will be 8pm to 6am Tuesday through Saturdays nightly and into Sunday mornings.. On and off ramps are subject to closed between 10pm to 6am if need be.

  • Lane closure signage will be in placed two miles ahead of each lane closure.
  • Outside lanes may be closed during construction with no full closures.
  • No closures on northbound side on Friday nights.
  • No closures on southbound side Sunday nights into Monday morning.

The work schedule will be subject to change due to weather or construction-related issues. Always reduce your speed through the work zone. Caltrans expects to complete the project by the end of November 2021.
