CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Just about every major road and Highway in Southern California was wet for the Monday morning commute.
Widespread rain showers and thunderstorms fell across the region, and Southern California Weather Force meteorologist Kevin Martin said it was going to happen in the early morning. Most of the showers were light to moderate, but there were steady pockets of moderate to heavy rainfall moving across high desert. All the soaked roads and freeways this morning caused some minor flooding in some areas, which of course means one thing…traffic.
Accidents have been reported throughout the Cajon Pass this morning jamming the morning commute for over 5 hours. Here’s some of what’s popping up from this morning:
- Southbound I-15 after Cleghorn Rd a minor rollover crash around 2:38am due to wet roads
- Then the one causing the biggest delay this morning was on southbound I-15 just after Kenwood Ave with a multiple vehicle crash with one upside down about 3:22am. All southbound traffic lanes were blocked for over 30 minutes.
- At about 3:25am and a little later northbound and southbound I-15 at D St. and at Stoddard Wells Road had two separate crashes due to the wet roads.
- More spin outs and minor crashes were not reported.
Good news on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday sunny skies are expected to return to the high desert and the Cajon Pass. Then a chance of thunderstorms back for the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday forecast.
