PHELAN, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A male driver had serious injuries after his truck became wedged underneath a semi tractor-trailer on northbound Highway 138 Sunday night.
According to the California Highway Patrol, at approximately 11:19pm Sunday September 12, 2021. A dark gray Dodge Ram pickup truck crashed into the rear of the trailer on Highway 138 just before Highway 2 in Phelan. The driver of the Dodge was trapped inside, but still conscious when San Bernardino County Fire Department arrived. A witness stated they extinguish the flames from the front-end of the truck.
The pickup truck driver was taken to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton by Mercy Air helicopter with unknown injuries. CHP said they do not believe alcohol to be a factor in the crash, and also said he could have fell asleep while operating the vehicle. The driver of the semi was not injured.
This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol Inland Office. CHP says additional information will be updated as it becomes available.
