FONTANA, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> California Highway Patrol are investigating after a driver was killed Thursday morning after striking the back of another vehicle on Interstate 15 in Fontana.
CHP and firefighters from San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to the traffic accident. The accident was reported at about 12:37am, Thursday October 8, 2021. The crash was located on southbound Interstate 15 just before Sierra Avenue exit. It was reported to be a two vehicle crash with one vehicle blocking the fast lane with debris all over the traffic lanes. It is under investigation whether the driver of the black Scion TC sedan was ejected or got out of the vehicle after the crash and was standing in the traffic lanes. The Scion had rear-ended a black Dodge Ram pickup truck.
Following the crash, at least two other vehicles reportedly hit the male driver of the Scion. The victim was reportedly dragged about 50 feet before being dislodged. All drivers that hit the victim and witnesses stayed at the scene. All were reportedly cooperating with the investigation according to CHP.
This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol San Bernardino Office. Additional details were limited. It’s unclear if drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash. Authorities have not yet identified the man who was killed. A CHP spokesman described him as a 21-year-old Riverside resident.
