CAJON PASS, CA (Pain In The Pass) >> Two people killed Wednesday morning after a fiery crash in the Cajon Pass, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash happened at about 4:04am Wednesday December 1, 2021. The crash location was on northbound Interstate 15 about two miles before the Oak Hill Road exit. California Highway Patrol, and San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to the traffic crash involving two vehicles, a red Ford C Max and an unknown type of sedan that was disabled in traffic lanes prior to the collision.
From what the CHP traffic log stated, the unknown sedan had become disabled with no lights on in the No. 2 lane, the driver of the red Ford C Max stated they didn’t see the disabled sedan and stuck it. This caused the disabled sedan to burst into flames in the fast lane. The driver was reportedly trapped inside the burning sedan, with help with good Samaritans they were able to pull the passenger out. Sadly the driver and passenger had succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Two people were reported to be transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries.
Firefighters worked quickly to knock down the vehicle fire and prevented it from spreading to the nearby brush. CHP issued a SIG Alert for the #1 and #2 lanes. CHP reopened all traffic lanes by 7:30am. The incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol Inland Office. CHP said additional information will be updated as it becomes available. Additional details were limited at this time.
