FONTANA, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A black sedan driver lost control of his vehicle, which led to hitting a person as they stood next to their vehicle on the shoulder of southbound Interstate 15.

The incident was reported on Thursday afternoon December 23, 2021 about 3:09pm on the southbound Interstate 15 just north of Duncan Canyon Road exit in Fontana. The California Highway Patrol traffic log reported that a black Chrysler 300 sedan spun out on the wet roadway and collided with the driver standing outside of their white Mercedes-Benz on the right shoulder of the freeway.

The person of the Mercedes was hit. When CHP arrived on the scene, they found a person that was hit and unresponsive on the shoulder of the freeway. Unfortunately even with the help of life-saving efforts, the person was pronounced deceased at the scene. Their identity hasn’t been released pending notification of Next-of-Kin.

The black Chrysler that hit the the person was not injured and did stay at the scene and was cooperating with the investigation, CHP said. This incident is currently under investigation by the California Highway Patrol Rancho Cucamonga Office.
