HALLORAN SPRINGS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Authorities have identified the passenger who died after she was ejected from the vehicle after losing control on Interstate 15 just after the Halloran Summit Road on Christmas night.
California Highway Patrol and firefighters from San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to the traffic crash. The incident happened at about 11:53pm Saturday December 25, 2021, on northbound Interstate 15 just after the Halloran Summit Road onramp. Upon arrival, CHP officers determined that a 42-year-old man from San Diego was driving with a woman passenger in a 2000 Lexus ES300 at an unknown speed. For unknown reasons the Lexus veered to the right off the freeway and overturned multiple times. The vehicle landed about 125 feet off the shoulder of the freeway and caught fire.
A passing motorist stopped at the scene, removed the driver from the Lexus, and located the passenger on the ground near the vehicle. Emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene and pronounced the woman deceased at the scene at 12:40am Sunday morning. The driver who received major injuries was transported to University Medical Center in Las Vegas, according to the CHP. The San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner’s office later identified the woman as Linh Thuy Nguyen, a resident of San Diego.
Alcohol and/or drugs are not considered to be a contributing factor in this collision, the CHP reported.
