MOUNTAIN PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A man was killed while a woman sustained injuries in a car accident on Interstate 15, Tuesday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on January 18, 2022 at about 7:16am on southbound I-15. A 2014 white Toyota Camry reportedly failed to navigate a curve on the freeway. Then the vehicle veered to the right and slammed into a rock wall near Bailey Road exit.
The impact of the collision ejected the driver from the vehicle. Emergency crews rushed the driver to St. Rose Hospital in Las Vegas, where he was later pronounced deceased. CHP officers identified the driver as a 34-year-old man from Fort Washington, Maryland. Authorities withheld the name of the victim, pending notification of next of kin. The 35-year-old passenger was transported to the same hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
CHP ruled out drugs and alcohol as factors in the fatal accident. CHP investigators have not yet determined what caused the crash. Anyone with additional information can call CHP Barstow Office at (760) 255-5900.
