WRIGHTWOOD, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A new wildfire has broken out in the town Wrightwood Saturday evening.

The Sheep Fire Incident was reported at about 6:29pm, on Saturday, June 11, 2022, just north of Highway 2. San Bernardino County Fire, Angeles National Forest, with help from CAL Fire firefighters were quickly on scene and called for more support.

The winds were gusting about 20 mph in heavy brush and timber fanning the flames up hill. Two helicopters were called to the scene to do some drops. They are calling for two LACoFD helicopter for night water drops.

There is a handful of structures are threatened. As of 8pm the fire has burned at approximately 5 acres in the Angeles National Forest. The fire is moving away from the town of Wrightwood. No structures have been reported to be damage or destroyed.

Update at 9:30pm the main fire is 24 acres, the spot fire ahead is 11 acres, Two more spot fires off to the East, the most active Fire is pushing towards the wash and Desert Front Road.

10pm fire update is now 35 acres 0% containment.

7am on Sunday the fire is 36 acres burned with better mapping and is 5% contain.

1:30pm Sunday the fire has flared up with the gusty winds. Fire is spotted across to the east side of Hwy 2, starting evacuation orders for the Desert Front Rd area, plus putting Wrightwood under an evacuation warning.
